Toni Blake's Newsletter

Dear Friends and Readers

Wow – can you believe it’s almost June?  Time for picnics, pool parties, and … Letters to a Secret Lover!  As promised in my last newsletter, here I am again to remind you that Letters to a Secret Lover is now officially on sale at a bookstore near you!

Letters to a Secret Lover

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this book!  And yes, I’m excited about the release of every book, but I particularly love Rob and Lindsey’s story, and I adore this book’s cover, too!  In case you’re wondering what the book is about, here’s a peek at the back cover blurb:

The last thing she needs right now is a man
Lindsey Brooks had it all—an awesome job doling out advice to the lovelorn, a fabulous high-rise apartment, and a to-die-for fiance. But then she got dumped—wearing nothing but a Kiss the Cook apron—and desperate to escape, she retreats to a tiny Montana town to reclaim a family treasure. She never dreamed anyone would try to stop her – or that he’d be sexy as sin.

Too bad she finds such a hot one …
Rob Colter isn’t into relationships—but Lindsey sees Rob as the perfect guy to help her “get back on the horse.” The sex horse, that is. Unfortunately, he comes complete with a mysterious past, which gets even more mysterious when she finds his passionate letters to another woman – whose name happens to be tattooed on his chest.

And too bad he has so many secrets …
Now Rob’s dangerous past is about to catch up with them both. And if that’s not horrible enough, Lindsey is falling for him – hard. For a girl who usually has all the answers, Lindsey is up to her neck in trouble.

And here’s what people are saying:

“Sexy and emotional - Toni Blake gives readers a 1-2 punch! Everything you want in a romance and MORE!” ~Carly Phillips, NYT Bestselling Author

“With each new release, Toni Blake’s writing talent impresses me more and more. A story as inspiring as it is sexy!” ~Jennifer Ray, CK2S Kwips and Kritiques, 5 CLOVERS

“Toni Blake never fails to provide readers with a captivating story, intriguing lead characters, and secondary characters who are a charming bonus. Lindsey and Rob are written so realistically that you can’t help but feel their every emotion and share their pain. I have read all of Ms. Blake’s previous books and truly feel that this just might be her best work to date!” ~Laurie Damron, Romance Junkies, 4.5 BLUE RIBBONS

And for a super fun, “visual” peek at the book, you can view a promotional video for it!  It’s fun and worth the click, I promise.

As always, you can visit my website to read an excerpt, or if you’re ready to grab a copy, you can click on the link to the right to order it!

The Power of Love Anthology

Meanwhile, if that’s not enough news, The Power of Love will be on sale next Tuesday, June 3.  The Power of Love is an anthology featuring original stories by 12 different authors, including New York Times Bestseller Lori Foster and, of course, me. Each story in this very special project is about women’s empowerment and all author and agent royalties are being donated to the Hamilton County YWCA’s Battered Women Shelter in Cincinnati, Ohio.  As luck would have it, this happens to be where I live, so it’s gratifying for me to know that the author proceeds from the book are going to a local organization that helps women.  To learn more about the book, just click here and be sure to grab your copy soon!

Still Available

If you haven’t yet bought a copy of my recent e-book release, You Send Me, now’s the perfect time!  After all, the story is a prequel to Letters to a Secret Lover, so they make the perfect “reading companions”!  Click here to get a copy delivered straight to your computer!

And if you read my last newsletter, you know that my last novel, Tempt Me Tonight has been nominated for the prestigious RITA Award, so this seems like a good time to remind you that both Tempt Me Tonight and Swept Away are still available.

Fun Stuff

Fun Stuff

Fun Stuff Item #1:
My first fun item this time around is a doozy, ladies, so prepare yourself!  As fate would have it, George Clooney and I grew up in the same general area – and in fact, we both dropped out of the same local university ; )  George’s parents still live about an hour away from me, and in late March, George premiered his movie, “Leatherheads,” in Maysville, Kentucky, where his family has strong roots.  So, diligent George fan that I am, I hopped in the car and did the whole red carpet thing!  I’m sorry to report, girls, that I did not arrive quite early enough to get a spot good enough to allow me to meet George, but I did succeed in getting within about five feet of him for quite some time.  I’m here to report that he looks just as good in person, and that he also seemed just as jovial and kind-hearted in person, too.  Although I would have given my right arm to actually meet George and get a picture with him, I did get a lot of good pictures of both him and Renee Zellweger, who stars in the movie with him.  To see all the photos, including the one shown here, just click to visit my MySpace page, then click on Pics under the cover to Letters to a Secret Lover.

Fun Stuff Item #2:
I've been invited to be a guest author in a fun monthly contest run by authors Jennifer Skully, Leigh Wyndfield, Dee S. Knight, and T.L. Schaefer.  Click here to enter the contest starting June 1!

Fun Stuff Item #3:
(yes, I’ve got fun stuff just coming out of my ears this time around) Letters to a Secret Lover is the featured book for June in Jennifer Crusie’s online book club!  The book will be discussed from June 16 - 20 at CherryForums.com so this should motivate you to grab a copy and read it before the discussion.  All readers are welcome, so don’t be shy!

Out and About

If you’re anywhere near Cincinnati, June 6 – 8 is Lori Foster’s Annual Reader and Writer Get-Together, a totally fun, casual conference for both readers and authors of romance.  This is a great event, very laid back, and one of my favorite things to do every year.  For more information, visit the Get-Together page at Lori’s website.

And if you’re in the San Francisco area, you’re very lucky because the Romance Writers of America’s annual conference is in your city this year – from July 30 through August 2.  So make plans to come to the big booksigning, or maybe you want to attend the whole conference and hob nob with your fave authors.

And if you can’t make it, fear not – I will be posting pictures from both events on my website.  Be sure to check the site in August or September for pics from the gala Rita ceremony.  Win or lose, I plan to celebrate my nomination!

And for those who prefer to do their traveling online, I will be “guest-blogging” at several great book blogs to celebrate the release of Letters to a Secret Lover, and I hope you’ll stop by to chat!  Here’s my blogging schedule:

Monday, June 2 – Romance Pirates & Avon Romance Blog
Tuesday, June 3 – Romance Vagabonds Vagabonds
Wednesday, June 4 – Romance Novel TV
Friday, June 6 – B(u)y the Book at LifetimeTV.com

Hope to see you either in person or online in the near future!

For a Good Cause

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammograms in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. TheBreastCancerSite.com

And don’t forget, every copy of The Power of Love that’s sold will benefit the Hamilton County YWCA’s Battered Women Shelter in Cincinnati!

That’s it for this time, gang!  As always, I so appreciate your continued support and I thank you for reading my books.  I hope you will find Letters to a Secret Lover the perfect summer escape!

What I'm Reading

Tangled Up in You by Rachel Gibson
Woohoo - I'm finally caught up on my Rachel books!

What I'm Watching

Leatherheads
George looks just as good muddy, ladies!

Dexter
And no, this doesn’t mean I like serial killers – it means this show is a brilliant character study!

What I'm Listening To

Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft
An oldie but a goodie, I find this song the ultimate relaxation tune.  And how cool is it that the entire song is about a guy’s stroll up the front walk to his house when he comes home from work?

Cruisin’ by Smokey Robinson
I don’t care how old it is, this song just stays sexy.  Only the Smokey version, though.

Might As Well Have Fun While You’re At It by Alice Peacock
This fun, quirky tune is also an important life lesson – although I could do without the tap dancing in the middle.

Bettter Together by Jack Johnson
The perfect happy summertime song – guaranteed to make you want to walk on the beach, holding hands with your guy.

I'm Yours by Jason Mraz
Caught this delightful, summery song on the radio while traveling in Italy just last week, and here's the video, too.
