Dear Friends and Readers

I’m so pleased to announce that One Reckless Summer is now officially on sale at a bookstore near you! I’m always excited when a new book comes out, but this one is extra special to me as it’s the first book in my Destiny series for Avon Books. So what is Destiny? It’s the quaint small town where my upcoming books will take place and I’ve had such great fun creating this community of hunky guys and the fun, spirited women who can tame them.

I hope after reading One Reckless Summer you’ll look forward to returning to Destiny as much as I am! In the Destiny books, I’ll be bringing you the same kind of super sexy, super heartwarming stories you’ve gotten from me in the past – only now the stories will be tied together by a common place and characters you’ll get to revisit in multiple books.

One Reckless Summer is Here!

The perfect daughter. The perfect prom queen. The perfect wife. Jenny Tolliver’s been the good girl all her life, and it’s gotten her nowhere. Now that her marriage has been busted up by her cheating ex, she’s decided it’s time to regroup and rediscover herself. This summer she’s headed back to her hometown of Destiny, Ohio, to the very lakeshore cottage where she grew up, to figure out what life holds in store for her next.

She never dreamed the answer would be Mick Brody, Destiny’s #1 hellraiser. He comes from the wrong side of the tracks (or in his case, the lake), and he’s landed in hot water more times than he can count. He’s exactly the kind of guy Jenny’s always kept her distance from … but soon the good girl and the bad boy are caught in a raw heat that’s out of control. Too bad Mick’s got a secret that threatens to tear them apart and ruin Jenny’s perfectly, passionately reckless summer …

A few early reviewer comments on the book:

“I’ve found the perfect 2009 romantic beach read. Toni Blake’s latest is well-written, fast paced and puts the reader smack in the middle of a long, hot Destiny summer. One Reckless Summer is a bookshelf must.” ~Bookishly Attentive

“A great plot. The way it ends will linger in your mind.” ~Romantic Times, 4 STARS

“Emotionally charged, deeply sensual and wonderfully realistic, One Reckless Summer gives romance readers everything they could ever want in a romance. Every word flows beautifully, forming a flawless plot.” ~Night Owl Reviews, A REVIEWER TOP PICK

And New York Times Bestselling Author Susan Wiggs had this to say:
“Toni Blake's One Reckless Summer is one wild ride! This is just the book you want in your beach bag--it's sexy, emotional and filled with twists and turns that will keep the pages turning.”

Want to learn more about what you can expect to find in Destiny? Check out this short interview with me about the series. You can also watch a one-minute video about the series, featuring the music of the talented Marty Casey, runner up on the television show, RockStar INXS.

And in case you haven’t noticed, the cover for One Reckless Summer is gorgeous (and even prettier in person!) so you’ll want to check out the new Destiny-themed items in my online store.

Out & About

Over the next couple of weeks, you can find me in the following places:

I’ll be guest-blogging with the ladies of Desert Island Keepers on June 2 about the men of Destiny, so if you’re planning to read the series, you won’t want to miss this.

And I’ll be guest-blogging with Michelle Buonfiglio of Romance: B(u)y the Book on June 3 about having your own reckless summer, so if you’ve had one, or if you just want to read about people who have, please stop by as I’m thinking this should be an extra fun one!

On June 3, I’ll also be hanging out at Barnes & Noble’s Romantic Reads book club. This came about because the fabulous Eloisa James read and loved One Reckless Summer and has chosen to feature it in her Barnes & Noble column. How fun and exciting is that? I hope you’ll stop by the book club to discuss One Reckless Summer with us!

On June 5 – 7, I’ll be in Westchester, Ohio at the Lori Foster Readers-and-Writers Get-Together, which is always a super fun event, and if you’re anywhere in the Midwest, I encourage you to make the trip. You can learn more about it on Lori's Web site.

And from July 15 – 18, I’ll be in Washington D.C. at the annual Romance Writers of America conference. If you live in D.C., please check out the huge literacy signing on Wednesday the 15th at the Mariott Wardman Park Hotel – you won’t be sorry; it’s loads of fun!

Fun Stuff

Fun Stuff

I know what you’re thinking: no shoes? If you’ve read past issues of my newsletter, you’ve grown used to seeing a fun pair of shoes in this area, but alas, I’ve been too busy to shop much lately. Though I hope the other fun items here will provide adequate entertainment – and I’ll try to find some shoes for next time. ; )

If you’re wondering what’s kept me so busy … well, for one thing, I’ve been doing some overhauls to my website. The site now has a page for aspiring writers and a fun video page. I’ve also, of course, been feverishly preparing for the release of One Reckless Summer, as well as writing the next book in the Destiny series, Take Me Home Tonight.

Of course, it’s not all work, work, work – I also recently took a trip to Hawaii. I’d been to Maui and Kauai before, and this time I visited the Big Island. Trust me when I say it was just what the doctor ordered in terms of rest and relaxation – I didn’t want to come home. Check out my online Travel Photo Album to see some pictures from paradise. And should you be dying to see still more pictures from the trip, please join my Yahoo readers group where I’ve posted lots more than I can fit on the website.

And speaking of my reader’s group, we’re having lots of fun there, so I hope you’ll join even if you don’t want to see more Hawaii pictures. Although it’s a fairly low-volume group, we have contests, book discussions, visits from guest authors, and lots more.

Want still more fun stuff? I’ve just found out that a picture of me with Criss Angel has been featured in the July issue of Romantic Times Bookclub. Be sure to check out page 22!

And I’ve also just been informed that my last book, Letters to a Secret Lover, is a finalist for the prestigious HOLT Medallion award! If you haven’t read “Letters,” it’s still available!

Not-So-Fun Stuff

My sincere apologies that the e-mail address on my website was inactive from November 10 to January 15. I had no idea until after the fact, so if you had occasion to e-mail me during this period and didn’t receive a response, it’s because I didn’t receive your message. Sorry!

And on a different note, should you be looking for One Reckless Summer in your local bookstore and not be able to find it, please be sure to ask. Sometimes bookstores are so busy that all the books don’t get put on the shelves right away, but they may be in a back room waiting to make their way onto the sales floor. And if you should find a bookstore that doesn’t have any copies, please ask them to order it for you – any bookstore should be more than happy to do so.

For a Good Cause

This isn’t the first time I’ve included the below in my newsletter – but it’s such a good cause, I’m reminding you again.

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle).

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Thanks in advance to everyone who picks up a copy of One Reckless Summer and helps the Destiny series get off to a successful start. I sincerely appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the book. And if you do, please recommend it to a friend!

May you all have a wonderful – and reckless – summer!

Sincerely,
Toni
