Dear Friends and Readers

Wow, where did the summer go? I don’t know about you, but mine was super busy and I have lots of fun stuff to catch you up on!

Book News

Book News

First, if you bought a copy of one of my summer releases, Letters to a Secret Lover, You Send Me, or The Power of Love, thank you and I hope you enjoyed it! And if you didn’t, hey – good news, it’s not too late since they’re all still available! To whet your appetite, here are a couple of comments about Letters to a Secret Lover – and I’m thrilled to announce that Romance Reviews Today gave the book its much-coveted Perfect 10 Award, which made me very proud.

“A stunning romance filled with intrigue, passion, and hope. I was mesmerized.” ~Bestselling Author Robyn Carr

“Toni Blake has succeeded in becoming one of my all-time favorite writers. When you read LETTERS TO A SECRET LOVER, you will laugh out loud, get butterflies, and shed tears. The ultimate love story!! I loved it!” ~Mandy Burns, Fresh Fiction

“Blake's story of trust and forgiveness is an emotional tale that's well narrated and infused with both steamy love scenes and touching moments." ~Marilyn Weigel, Romantic Times

Meanwhile, I’m thrilled to tell you that I’ve just agreed to write a series of books set in the fictional small town of Destiny, Ohio for Avon Books. How thrilled am I about this? Very! The first book will bring together the world’s best good girl and the penultimate bad boy, so you won’t want to miss it. Mark your calendars for summer 2009 and expect more information soon!

Fun Stuff

Fun Stuff

I have an absolute ton of Fun Stuff this time around, so let’s get right to it.

First, consider this your personal invitation to join my Yahoo online reader group, where many of my readers are already gathered for fun, prizes, and chatting about books and more!  The group was recently started by a few of my most devoted readers, and we’re having a great time so far, so I hope you’ll join us.

Back in May when Letters to a Secret Lover was first hitting the shelves, I was actually on a trip to beautiful Italy!  My husband and I spent ten days touring the Cinque Terre, Tuscany, and Rome.  It was truly the trip of a lifetime, so I’m pleased to share a few of my favorite vacation photos with you.

Then in July, the annual RWA conference rolled around, this year in San Francisco.  It was a fabulous conference, and I also took the opportunity to do some sightseeing in Muir Woods and Sausalito, where I’d visited before, but it was nice to go back.  Turns out I left my purse on the tour bus (oh, the panic!) but heading back to the waterfront to get it gave me the opportunity to hang out with writer friends at Fisherman’s Wharf for a while, so it was all good.  I did not win the Rita award, but I truly enjoyed being a nominee and soaked up all the fun that came with it!  And let me take this opportunity to thank Nikki Enlow for doing my hair for the occasion, and to my “entourage” for the evening:  Lindsey Faber, Julie Anne Long, and Jackie Floyd (who was a Golden Heart nominee!)  I’ve posted lots of pictures from the conference and from Rita night, so check them out in my event photo album.

You may recall that after last year’s conference, I returned home with a photo of some “guest shoes” for this section of the newsletter, and it was so fun that I decided to do it again.  The cowboy boot you see belongs to none other than Suzanne Brockmann, who hosted the Rita ceremony this year.  I was there some years back when she won two Ritas on the same night – in these same boots – so it was fun to see them making another appearance. (And sorry I cut off your boot’s toe, Suzanne! I was taking this picture in the dark and couldn’t see a thing on the camera’s little screen.)

And if that’s not enough fun stuff for you, then head over to my website and enter my new contest!

Out and About

I’ll be one of more than a dozen authors signing at the Kentucky Romance Writers annual booksigning that day. This is always a super fun event, and this year it’s centrally located in Lexington, so I’d love to see you there. The signing will be at Joseph Beth Booksellers at Lexington Green, from 11 to 2 o’clock. Other authors attending include: J.R. Ward, Lori Foster, Elizabeth Bevarly, Cait London and more.

And if you can’t get to Kentucky, you can get to the Internet, where I’ve also made a couple of recent appearances.  Watch an interview with me at LifetimeTV.com where I talk about erotic romance and more with romance maven Michelle Buonfiglio. You can also see me in an Avon Books video from this year's RWA Literacy Signing in San Francisco. And if you haven’t yet, you should check out my author page on Avon’s fabu new site.

For a Good Cause

For a Good Cause

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free. This doesn't cost you a thing! Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Please visit the Animal Rescue Site and click on the purple box. Pass it along to people you know.

That’s all for now.  Until next time, I wish you a very happy and colorful autumn!

You Send Me

If you loved Letters to a Secret Lover, you’ll want to read Millie’s story in this short story prequel. Download a copy from HarperCollins ebooks.

What I'm Reading

The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt
Ah, a good old-fashioned angsty historical with a feisty heroine to boot.

Virgin River by Robyn Carr
Lovers of books set in small mountain towns will dig this one, AND it’s the first in a series!

What I'm Watching

Sex and the City, the Movie
Just as good as the show – only longer.

Swingtown
Yes, a bit tawdry, but really well-cast, and if you were alive in the 70s, I promise that the clothes, music, and home décor will totally take you back – that part is amazingly well-done!

What I'm Listening To

I’m in Love with a Girl by Gavin DeGraw
This one kept me company on my iPod on the plane to and from Italia!

A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You by the Monkees
Yes, I’m serious – it’s a good song!

Under My Thumb by The Rolling Stones
My fave Stones song of all time

I’ll Take you There by The Staple Singers
One of those songs that always makes me dance in my seat without meaning to.
